WE'RE CHRISTIANS COMMITTED TO TACKLING POVERTY
We believe in people not projects. We partner with local people, connecting them with our supporters, so that they can transform their own communities. Together we are tackling the causes and consequences of injustice.
Maysaa was born in Syria in 2014. Her father fled to Lebanon leaving his pregnant wife and daughter behind.
In Lebanon, he worked until he had enough money to bring his wife, and now 2 daughters into Lebanon.
Soon after the family arrived, the eldest daughter was rushed to hospital where sadly she died of malnutrition.
Thankfully Maysaa is doing well and has settled in at Father Andeweg Institute for the Deaf (WDR partner). She has received two hearing aids and has started in kindergarten. The school is also working with the family to help them through the trauma of losing their eldest child.
INDONESIA EMERGENCY RELIEF
Any churches or individuals who would like to donate to the relief efforts in Indonesia following the devastating earthquake and tsunami, can do so via. World Development & Relief. We will be channelling all donations through our sister agency All We Can, who are responding locally through a local partner already on the ground.
Please send donations to the office (Skainos, 239 Newtownards Rd, Belfast, BT4 1AF) and include a note to say that it is for the relief efforts. Cheques should be made payable to Methodist World Development & Relief Fund.
